Ten FREE Flex 2 API Reference Posters!

How many classes extend flash.events.EventDispatcher in the Flex 2 API? Webdu attendees know the answer is 318, thanks of course to the spectacular Flex 2 API Quick Reference poster they got in their goody bags.

Didn't get to Webdu? Stuggling to come to grips with Flex 2? Here's your chance to restore your faith in the fairness of the developer, no damnit, the human condition! RocketBoots are GIVING AWAY, for FREE, 10-packs of these unique posters to the first 30 Macromedia user groups, anwhere in the world, who contact us with their User Group URL, email, shipping addess and contact name (limit of one pack per user group). Here's a lo-res version of the poster to whet your appetite (the real poster is slightly smaller than A0):

The poster includes properties, methods, styles, effects and events for all subclasses of EventDispatcher - generally the interesting classes including the UI, events and services. The subclasses of each class are arranged alphabetically for easy reference.

The information was parsed from the latest version of the Flex 2 Beta 1 documentation only a fortnight before Webdu using a ColdFusion script with some rather elegant regular expressions, and downloaded into a Flex 1.5 application that I wrote to do the layout - you're looking at a whole lot of VBox, Label and HRule tags, with some drawing API stuff for the connectors. The Canvas was then printed out using the PrintJob class and sent off to our designers to get it ready for printing.

Anyway, get on to your user group manager and you may be pining your own copy up on your cubicle wall in the near future. Good Luck!

Cheers,
Robin

Here in Ukraine we do not have MMUG established. Should we establish one to receive this cool A0 format poster with Flex 2 beta API? We are group of cool 7 Flex developers who are currently developing some cool stuff in Flex 1.5... i18n support, states support all done for Flex 1.5 :P.

Simeon, just for you ;-) Actually we still have a few left - send us your shipping address in an email. Just so people know, we've also sent posters out to Adobe sales offices in various parts of the world so they should be turning up as prizes here and there. <commercial-bit> If you're not a user group but would like to buy one let us know - if there's enough demand we'll get organised. We'll also be giving them away with software purchases (we're really good at the ins and outs of the Adobe licensing programs and have customers around the globe) until we run out. </commercial-bit>

Our site, RIAGuild.com, isn't in production yet, but a Flex User community is at the core of it. It'd be super to offer these to the alpha people, though. On the off chance we can qualify: Cliff Hall, RIAGuild (RIAGuild.com) 3 Maple Ridge Ct Jonesborough, TN 37659 If not, can we order some?

We're an engineering & construction company and therefore have access to commercial plotters. Is it possible that we could get access to a high resolution version of this document? It's a little hard to read the attribute names on the posted version. Send me an email. Thanks so much for your work on this! Jim

Hey, love this poster. I work for a flex company in Denver, Colorado called Effective User Interface (www.effectiveui.com) and would love to get one of these. I'm sure you're out of the freebies by now, but I bet we'd all buy one if you'd make them available for sale.....
