Well WebDU is finished for another year - thanks again to Geoff and the Daemon crew. We think this is a brilliant conference, and we're proud to have been a silver sponsor of WebDU for the last seven years, in fact every year since RocketBoots was founded. I also believe (but am prepared to be corrected) that I am the only person apart from Kai Koenig and Geoff himself to have presented at every WebDU conference!
RocketBoots had a busy time as usual, with our sponsor booth, Code Wars and two presentations, including an excellent benchmark on graphics speeds across a variety of browser, plugin and desktop technologies by Noj and Sushi. This was their first conference presentation and they did an awesome job. More to come from that presentation soon.
Thanks to everybody who attended my software requirements presentation. From the feedback I heard it seems like people got a lot out of it, which is great. If you couldn't tell from my wild gesticulations towards the end, I feel it's incredibly important as developers to take responsibility for ensuring that the problems we're solving for our clients are the right ones. Too many smart people are wasting too many years of their lives solving the wrong problems, and too many clients are wasting valuable resources on software development that doesn't help them.
BTW if I hadn't been pressed for time or worried about running out of inflatable swords I should have let you all off on that first question about weather stations. I found out afterwards that most of you had that down as a “connection” problem, and in case you left worrying that you hadn't understood the problem frame I'd like to reassure you that you were perfectly right to think that. In fact connection problems are very commonly associated with information problems, it's just the emphasis (or emPHAsis) that changes from the queries people ask (information) to the errors that may occur trying to get the information (connection). Often you need to highlight both.
I'm planning to use some screen recording software I got a few months back to record some of my back catalogue of presentations from WebDU, CFObjective and WOTP, but in the meantime here are pdfs of my slide deck and the worksheet that I handed out for the Problem Frame Spotto game:

Best wishes and I hope to see many of you at the next WebDU.
